Fresh Off Sweep at The Rattler, MEP Launches a New Website
Officials from Champion Racing Association and McGunegill Engine Performance have announced that McGunegill Engine Performance will continue their sponsorship programs for the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series and CRA Street Stocks for the upcoming 2009 season. The Muncie, Indiana based engine builder recently unveiled their new engine packages developed specifically for the Late Model Sportsman and Street Stock teams. Bret Miles Jr. won the 2008 CRA Street Stock Championship powered by McGunegill Engine Performance.
The highest finisher in the top ten of each Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series event, who has not received the award previously, will receive a $100 certificate towards labor or purchase of an engine from McGunegill Engine Performance. A $50 certificate will be awarded in the CRA Street Stock division in the same manner at each race. Additionally, McGunegill Engine Performance will award another $1000 worth of awards at the 2009 CRA Awards Banquet for the Howe CRA Late Model Sportsman Series and another $500 worth of awards for the CRA Street Stocks.
McGunegill Engines are common to find in CRA.
McGunegill Engine Performance has been a leader in developing high performance, cost effective race engine solutions. The family run business, led by DeWaine McGunegill Sr. (Mac) with sons DeWaine and Brent, led the development of the highly successful Sealed Engine program for Super Late Models in the last 5 years. Their innovative Sealed Engine package cut the cost of purchasing a competitive Super Late Model engine by almost $20,000. Scott Hantz won his record third CRA Super Series Championship in 2008 using a McGunegill Sealed Engine. The McGunegill family has been involved in racing for decades, as racers themselves, and later, as nationally recognized engine builders.
“We are excited to be a part of these great divisions of CRA,” noted Mac McGunegill. “Both groups put on great shows. Through our involvement with the Super Late Models, we developed a desire to take some great alternatives to the Late Model Sportsman and Street Stock teams. Having been racers ourselves, we know the financial strains that can come from trying to field a competitive engine at all levels of racing, so it was an easy step for us to look at the Late Model Sportsman and Street Stocks to see where we could help. From completely new engines, to re-conditioned engines, or work on a racer’s existing engine, we plan to have a package for every type of need.”
